After producing more than 40 network television series—including some of the nation’s most successful franchises—Derrick Speight launched Sp8 Digital. Since its inception, the company has produced a number of series and pilots including the fashion web series ‘Life’s S.O.R.A.D.’ for Kohl’s, MNET America’s flagship variety show ‘Danny From L.A.,’ as well as the teen-centric scripted ‘Secret Diary of An American Cheerleader: First Crush.

Pivoting primarily to scripted content, Speight has been commissioned to oversee projects for Viacom, AT&T, and the Salvation Army. Most recently, he served as Head of Originals at BET Digital where he oversaw development and production for all digital series, specials, and pilots. Previously, he wrote, produced, and directed the BET Digital sketch comedy series ‘Spoof Deez’ and partnered with Demand Media to develop, produce, and direct their entire slate of programming as part of YouTube’s $100M Original Content Initiative. Speight was awarded the W3 Silver Award, honoring outstanding content, for directing the launch spot of Ageless Alliance’s national campaign.
